The main provider of ratings and ratings data for all the national radio stations, Arbitron, has announced that they will stop giving MeasureCast ratings in a weekly and monthly basis. MeasureCast, as you already probably know, is measuring Internet radio broadcast audiences, planning also to sell revised services in the future.
Arbitron is a New York -based company that acquired MeasureCast in 2002, after which starting to offer the company’s tally of the most popular online radio stations. However, now Arbitron has decided that MeasureCast is not offering the right kind of information for media planners to decide whether to use money on internet radio advertising or not. These factors usually include stuff like age, sex, geography etc.
According to Arbitron, MeasureCasts old methods were not scalable enough for rapid growth. Arbitron is promising to still remain committed to internet broadcasting business, but obviously with a little bit different methods. The investments that would have been necessary for sustaining the current methods were just too big to justify them. In other words, the revenue potential was too low unlike with affordable Payday Loans. Arbitron doesn’t announce when they are going to launch their new and revised internet radio ratings service.
